August, 2005 -- Utility companies are being challenged by this summer¿s high temperatures. Heat waves in
June, July, and August have led to high electricity usage, and stretched utilities to the limit.
But the temperatures have proven to be perfect weather for the introduction of ComfortChoice
Manager, Carrier¿s new web-based application designed for use by utilities in performing
electricity curtailment events using Carrier¿s ComfortChoice demand management solution.
ComfortChoice Manager (CCM) replaces ComfortChoice¿s older utility interface, which was
previously administered by Itron, Inc.
In a secure interface available from any web
browser, ComfortChoice Manager provides utility
companies with a powerful, yet easy-to-use tool to
administer and manage demand response events. It
provides comprehensive reports that allow detailed
analysis of curtailment events, and web pages to
aid in runtime data collection.
Utilities in Anaheim, Colorado Springs and New
Jersey have used ComfortChoice Manager to
administer and manage demand response events in
three new pilot programs featuring both residential
and light commercial customers. There have been almost 20 utility-initiated events this
summer with more to come.
Utilities are praising ComfortChoice Manager
for its reliability, flexibility, and user friendly
interface. The software is uniquely tailored to
the ComfortChoice solution. Carrier is also
working on projects to migrate our existing
large ComfortChoice customers in California
and New York to CCM after they have seen
the successful operation this summer.
